Premium Payout Structure and Rules

1. Each exhibitor entry into a halter or production class (Open gelding, Produce of Dam & Get of sire ONLY)  must pay a $25 Premium in addition to the normal entry fee for the class.

2. The Premiums received are paid out as winnings to all recipients of third place or better, including champions and reserve champions.

3. The amount of payout per placing per class is determined by the total number of entries in that class.

As an example: a male alpaca placing first in a yearling class of 12 alpacas will be paid winnings greater than a male alpaca placing first in a juvenile class of 5 alpacas.

For a class with at least 3 entries, First place will receive 36% of the total Premiums collected for this class, Second place will receive 25% and Third place 14%.

For a class with 2 entries, First place will receive 45% of the total Premiums collected ($44 after administration expense) or $19.80 and Second place will receive 30% or $13.20.

For a class with only 1 entry, First place will receive 75% of $22 or $16.50.

For production classes (Get of Sire &  Produce of Dam) and any class inside a color group not qualifying for Championship  with at least 3 entries, First place will receive 45% of the total Premiums collected for this class, Second place will receive 30% and Third place 25%.

For production classes (Get of Sire & Produce of Dam) and any class inside a color group not qualifying for Championship  with 2 entries, First place will receive 60% of the total Premiums collected for this class and Second place will receive 40%.

For production classes (Get of Sire & Produce of Dam) and any class inside a color group not qualifying for Championship with only 1 entry, First place will receive 100% of the total Premiums collected for this class.

The amount of payout for champion and reserve champion is determined by the total number of entries in the respective color group.

As an example: a female alpaca awarded color champion in a color group of 75 total alpacas will be paid winnings greater than a female alpaca awarded color champion in a color group of 40 total alpacas.

Color Champion will receive 15% of the total premiums collected from all entries in this color group and Reserve Champion will receive 10%.

In the event a color group does not have enough entries to meet AOBA requirements to award a champion and reserve champion; all Premiums for that color group will be paid out as winnings to the respective classes within that color group according to the number of entries per class.

5. The GAA will retain $3 of each $25 Premium to cover administrative expenses. The remaining $22 per entry will be paid out as winnings for the current show of which entry was submitted.

6. Exhibitors must pay the required Premiums at the same time registration is submitted for each class.

For (Get of Sire & Produce of Dam) production classes, Premiums will be accepted with each entry up to show deadline for entry in each production class including entries made on-site at the show.

7. Premiums are per entry, in the case of production classes which judge 3 alpaca together under one entry, the total required Premium is still $25.

8. All winnings will be calculated after completion of the show and checks will be mailed as soon as possible to the address of the owner of record (or holds permission to show) as recorded on the show registration forms.

9. The total amount of Premiums collected and thus winnings paid out will be certified by theGeorgia Alpaca Association Board of Directors prior to release of any funds.
